Wicklow Mountains National Park
Peregrine Falcon.

Peregrine Falcon, Fabhcún Gorm, Falco peregrinus

There are around fourteen pairs of Peregrine Falcon within the Park. At least one pair nests in the cliffs above the Upper Lake in Glendalough every year. During the summer you will often hear their distinctive high pitched cries which will alert you to look up. They are particularly vocal while they are teaching their young to hunt later on in the summer. Check our special events programme for details of our next Peregrine Watch when we'll be training telescopes on the nest and watching the adults feeding the young.
